The next-generation Toyota Fortuner will make its global debut on December 1, 2026. The India launch should follow in 2027. The 2027 Fortuner has been on test for a long time. Spy images and videos have already given us a good idea of what to expect.

The new Fortuner should get a better design, a more premium interior and new tech. Toyota seems to be borrowing a lot from the new Hilux pickup truck. Spy shots show a new design language. The SUV looks boxier and more squared-off.

The front gets a redesigned grille. It is large and gets a honeycomb mesh design. The headlamps are slim LEDs with LED DRLs. A thin gloss black strip connects them. Other design changes could include more pronounced wheel arches and new alloy wheels.

It may also get a sharkfin antenna, roof rails and a more upright A-pillar. At the back, Toyota could change the tailgate and tweak the bumper. A connected LED light bar and new taillamp graphics may also arrive.

    Interior and features
The interior should see big upgrades. We expect a larger touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity. You may also get a fully digital instrument cluster and power-adjustable front seats. A premium sound system and a sunroof are likely too.

    Safety
The biggest upgrade could be the Toyota Safety Sense package. This is Toyota’s advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) suite. The SUV might also get multiple airbags and electronic stability control. A 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system and front and rear parking sensors may come along.

    Engine and gearbox
The mechanicals should stay the same. We expect the current 2.7-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. The 2.8-litre diesel should continue, along with a 2.8-litre diesel with a mild hybrid system.

Gearbox options should include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Toyota should keep offering both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and four-wheel drive (4WD).
