New Delhi: Navigating the stock market comes with its own sets of challenges. Jumping into trading has similar hurdle because one has to track down trust-worthy data. It also risky to buy shares just because everyone else is doing. Furthermore, to buy a stock just because someone has recommended it is not free from risk either. For Chartered Accountant Manish Malhotra, making smart investment and trading moves are a combination of three major parts -- a. analysing data, b. verifying its authenticity, and c. comparing companies.Malhotra highlights Kwala Intel as a research tool that helps him access financial reports, compare company financial ratios, review historical records and track market indicators. According to him, the platform saves research time and helps him form an independent opinion when advising clients on investments and trading. How Kwala Intel helps with stock research and financial analysisAccording to Malhotra, a CA's responsibility extends beyond identifying investment opportunities. When clients seek advice, he needs to verify the authenticity of the available data, compare companies and assess not only their past performance but also their future prospects. Kwala Intel helps him access financial reports and compare financial ratios from one company to another. This allows him to examine company performance using data rather than relying solely on market sentiment or what other investors are buying. The platform also provides information about how long a company has been operating, alongside financial and historical records. Malhotra says this information helps him save several hours of research time that he can devote to other aspects of his work.Kwala Intel's 20-year historical data and performance ratiosOne of the features CA Malhotra highlights is the availability of historical company records extending up to 20 years, along with performance ratios.Historical data can help investors examine how a company has performed over different periods, while financial ratios allow them to compare businesses and evaluate their financial performance. Reviewing these details can form part of the process of assessing a company's track record and considering its future growth prospects. For Malhotra, having this information available through a single platform makes the research process more convenient. He views Kwala Intel as a tool that supports his analysis and helps him develop an informed opinion before advising investors.Market depth and Put-Call Ratio: How the tool supports trading analysis Investment research and trading analysis often require different types of information. While long-term investors may focus on company fundamentals and historical performance, traders may also need to assess market conditions quickly.Malhotra says Kwala Intel helps him access market depth and the Put-Call Ratio (PCR), which traders use as part of their market analysis.Market depth provides information about buy and sell orders at different price levels, while the Put-Call Ratio compares put and call activity or open interest, depending on the measure being used. These indicators can help traders assess market conditions and sentiment.According to Malhotra, quick access to such information is particularly useful when trading decisions need to be made within seconds. Delays in accessing or interpreting relevant data can affect the decision-making process, making timely information an important part of trading analysis. However, these indicators should be considered alongside other relevant information and do not guarantee accurate predictions of market movements or profitable trades. Why data verification matters when advising investorsMalhotra emphasises that investors should not buy a stock simply because other people are buying it. Data analysis and factual verification are important when evaluating an investment opportunity. For a professional advising clients, this involves checking whether the available information is reliable, comparing companies using financial ratios and examining historical performance. It also involves assessing what a company might be capable of achieving in the future.Kwala Intel serves as one of the tools Malhotra uses in this process. Its financial reports, company comparisons and historical database help him bring relevant information together before forming an opinion. The platform, therefore, supports the research process rather than replacing the need for independent evaluation. However, Malhotra makes an important distinction between using a research tool and relying on it entirely for investment decisions. He says no tool should be treated as an unquestionable source of investment advice. Instead, a platform can provide data, suggestions and an opinion that users must evaluate using their own judgement. For investors, this means that even when financial reports, historical records and market indicators are readily available, the responsibility to assess the information and understand the associated risks remains with them.Kwala Intel can assist with data collection, comparisons and analysis, but the final investment or trading decision should not be based solely on a tool's suggestions. How to get started with Kwala Intel Investors and traders interested in exploring Kwala Intel can follow three simple steps to access its stock research features.Visit the website: Go to the official Kwala Intel website at https://kwalaintel.com/in/. Log in and choose a plan: Log in to the platform and select the unlimited AI stock research plan advertised at Rs 199 per month. Check the website for the latest pricing and subscription terms. Search for a stock or ask a question: Enter a stock name in the search bar or use the voice or text input options to ask a question and access AI-based analysis. These features are intended to make stock-related information and research more accessible. However, as Malhotra emphasises, investors should evaluate the information independently rather than treating any tool's output as a final investment recommendation. The platform describes itself as an unlimited AI stock research plan priced at Rs 199 per month. Prospective users can visit the website to check the current plan details, features and applicable terms before subscribing.

FC Goa return to Indian Super League (ISL) 2026-27 action on Wednesday as they host Sporting Club Delhi, who are searching for their first points after two consecutive defeats. The Gaurs have played just once in the league so far, drawing 1-1 with Chennaiyin FC, and will be eager to rediscover their rhythm after a spell away from domestic action that ended in an exit from the AFC Challenge League. <a href="https://english.zeenews.com/sports/cricket/article-wpl-2027-auction-remaining-purse-top-players-available-slots-team-requirement-live-streaming-and-key-details-3160724">ALSO READ: WPL 2027 auction: Remaining purse, top players, available slots, team requirement, live streaming and key details</a>Head Coach Calls For Intensity, CommitmentHead coach Gouramangi Singh stressed the importance of returning with a win, insisting his side must show the same intensity, commitment and concentration they expect of themselves."Every game is important. Our game against Delhi is particularly important for us. Since we are back now (from Asian competition), we want to start with a win," Gouramangi said.  Forward Christian 'Chiki' Borrego has been in good scoring form, finding the net in his last four games across competitions. However, the attacker is focused on the team’s results rather than his individual tally."I prefer scoring goals for getting wins," he said, highlighting Goa's collective objective as they prepare for their return.Sporting Club Coach Sounds ConfidentSporting Club Delhi, however, will be no pushovers. Their opening two matches have followed a similar pattern: they led Bengaluru FC 2-1 at half-time before losing 3-2, then took a 1-0 lead against Mohun Bagan Super Giant before suffering a 2-1 defeat.Despite those results, head coach Tomasz Tchorz remains confident in his side's performances."I am very happy with the performance of the team. I think we played a very good game. We repeated what was a very good first half performance in Bengaluru. We were dangerous, created a lot of chances against a strong opponent but unfortunately we couldn't score more goals," said Tchorz.Defender Clarence Fernandes acknowledged the need to see games through after SCD let leads slip in both outings. "We should know how to hold the lead," he said. The fixture also marks a return to familiar surroundings for SCD defender Sanatomba Singh Yanglem, who previously represented FC Goa. The Gaurs won the sides' last meeting 1-0 in February, with Dejan Drazic scoring the winner.Bob Jackson Raj is expected to be available for Goa, while Harsh Patre and Aakash Sangwan are set to be sidelined for a while. The Gaurs will look to make home advantage count, while SCD must show they have learned from their opening setbacks. At Fatorda, promise alone will not be enough. The game kicks off at 7:30 PM IST and will be streamed live on the ISL YouTube channel and Sony Sports Network.

India fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar revealed his future plans after making a comeback to India's T20I team, confirming that he will be playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and also in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.  Bhuvi, 36, made his return to the international setup after nearly four years since his last game for India in November 2022, after earning a recall for the fifth T20I of the recently concluded series against the West Indies and the ongoing series against New Zealand.Speaking at the post-match press conference after India's win over New Zealand in the third T20I here at Hnry Stadium, the seamer spoke about his India return and his next move."It feels good to represent India. I wasn’t there for many years," he told the media after India's six-wicket win. "I am feeling good that I’ve got the opportunity to play for India again."He was asked of a possible ODI comeback as the ODI World Cup is less than a year away from now. The seamer said that he is not looking that far ahead, but confirmed that he will be playing in domestic cricket."I am not thinking too far ahead. Like I did in the last few years. I am happy with what I am getting. Of course, I will play domestic cricket. Whether it is Vijay Hazare Trophy or Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. So I am looking forward to that," he added.Bhuvi last played in the 50-over Vijay Hazare Trophy in December 2023, which was also his last List A match nearly three years ago. He was in action in the T20 SMAT last season. The seamer reiterated that he did not chase his comeback and rather kept doing what came in front of him. "To tell you the truth, I did not chase it. Yes, it is a dream (to play for India). I am very happy to play for India. It is a matter of pride. So I did not know (what happened) in these four years. Whatever was coming in front of me, the tournaments, the challenges, whatever about cricket, about fitness, I kept doing it," Bhuvi said.Bhuvneshwar also hailed Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for their performances in the 199-run chase. Abhishek and Sooryavanshi put up a 133-run stand in just 7.1 overs to set up a six-wicket win for India with 40 balls to spare. He opened up on the atmosphere of the dressing room, seeing the two batters go hammers and tongs, calling that it was not something new for the viewers. "It’s not the first time it’s happened. But I think credit should be given to Abhishek for the way he batted. It wasn’t easy. Finishing the game in the first six overs in T20 takes a lot of skill, which Abhishek is demonstrating repeatedly. Credit goes to him," he added.

Taking the stairs can say a fair bit about how your knees are doing. Unlike walking on flat ground, climbing puts more load on the knee joint and makes the surrounding muscles work harder. If it hurts, that could point to weak muscles or a joint problem that is already there. A stair climb can’t diagnose arthritis, but the way your knees respond can help you decide when it’s time to see a doctor. What your knees may be telling youPain at the front of the knee while climbing stairs may be patellofemoral pain. Former Miss Switzerland Beatrice Keul alleged that Donald Trump raped her in a hotel room in Atlantic City in November 1993. The claim has been made in a 53-page report released by Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee that examines historical links between Trump and Epstein, who was convicted of being a sex offender. Keul had accused Trump of groping her in the same incident in the past.<h2>Plaza Hotel incident details</h2>According to reports, Keul told Congress that the incident took place at the Plaza Hotel in Atlantic City during the American Dream Pageant.First encounter: Keul said she met Trump when she was 24 years old and that he had promised to help her obtain a US visa and get admitted to New York University.Epstein encounter: Keul reported that after meeting Trump, Epstein came up to her, calling himself Trump's friend and invited her to Mar-a-Lago.Incident: Reportedly, a representative then led Keul to a suite where, according to Keul, Trump grabbed her from behind and raped her brutally causing her torn dress and injuries.Aftermath: Keul testified that Trump made similar offers of help with visas after the incident, advising her to be silent and telling her that "the show must go on."<h2>Findings of the House Committee and White House reaction</h2>The ranking member of the committee Jamie Raskin and other House Judiciary Democrats referred to Keul's testimony alongside another 11 victims' testimonies, suggesting that modeling contests were used to lure young women.Democrats requested the attorney general Todd Blanche to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the way federal officials handled the Epstein files and his co-conspirators.However, the White House denied all allegations mentioned in the report of Congress, with one of the White House representatives calling this report a political distraction by Democrats before the upcoming elections in Congress. Trump has denied any criminal activity regarding Epstein and sexual assault charges.ALSO READ | <a href="https://english.zeenews.com/india/article-china-60000-mw-tibet-dam-india-siang-project-brahmaputra-water-capacity-3160718">Twice the size of three gorges: What 60,000 MW China's Tibet mega-dam means for Assam and Arunachal</a>

DMK President MK Stalin intensified his criticisms of Chief Minister Vijay's administration after a serious security breach in Theni district, where 17 undertrial prisoners made a jailbreak from Thekkampatti Sub Jail. Expanding his earlier "Breaking Bad" criticism about seizures of drugs by the state, Stalin joked about the TVK administration's inability to enforce law and order, saying that Tamil Nadu is now in "Prison Break" mode.<h2>Then the subjail ambush &amp; escape</h2>This security breach took place at Thekkampatti Sub Jail on Monday, where inmates orchestrated a diversion in order to overpower the guards.Tactical ambush: Early investigations carried out by police revealed that one of the undertrial prisoners faked a fit inside his cell.Overpowering guards: As soon as duty guards opened the cell to offer help to the inmate, other inmates ambushed the guards, overran the periphery, and escaped from the sub-jail premises.Repeat failure: This incident came just days after another break in Chennai's Puzhal jail, raising concerns about management of state prisons.<h2>Criticisms by Stalin &amp; Opposition of 'good-for-nothing' administration</h2>Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, Stalin raised questions about the functioning of the Home Department, which is accountable directly to Chief Minister Vijay."Following Breaking Bad, a Prison Break has now begun in Tamil Nadu," Stalin posted. "It is said that this is the first time since 1995 that such a large number of prisoners have escaped at once. Criminals on the outside commit offences with total freedom, while those on the inside boldly break out."Other opposition parties repeated the same line of reasoning. TKS Elangovan, DMK President, asked whether the absconders belong to TVK party or not. Edappadi K. Palaniswami, AIADMK Chief, and R. Inbadurai MP said that the incident was an utter failure of administration and demanded state accountability immediately.<h2>Search operation is on: Drone and forest searches</h2>DG P. Sandeep Rai Rathore came to Madurai from Chennai to conduct a state-level investigation regarding the security breakdown issue.Bidari, South Zone IG P. confirmed that the law enforcement agencies were able to arrest four fugitives while conducting specialized forces to search out the remaining 13 convicts who have hidden themselves in the dense forest area around there.Sixteen tactical check posts were installed at district border areas; drones were sent on aerial surveillance of the dense forest, and security checks at local bus stands were made strict.

DMK President MK Stalin targeted Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s administration following a massive jailbreak in Theni district, where 17 undertrial prisoners escaped from the Thekkampatti Sub-Jail on Monday.

Disappointment and visible resentment swept through sections of the National Conference on Tuesday after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expanded his council of ministers, with several senior legislators left out of the much-awaited induction. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha administered the oath of office and secrecy to four new ministers at Lok Bhawan, even as party workers staged protests at the National Conference headquarters and senior leaders voiced their hurt. The four legislators inducted into the council of ministers are veteran NC leader and seven-time MLA Ali Mohammad Sagar (Khaniyar), Altaf Ahmad Kaloo (Pahalgam), Mir Saifullah (Trehgam) and Shamima Firdous (Habba Kadal). The expansion brings the council to its maximum permissible strength under Union Territory rules. The process dropped sports and technical education minister Satish Sharma.South Kashmir’s senior-most NC leader and Anantnag West MLA Abdul Majid Bhat Larmi was seen with tearful eyes after not being inducted. He said he had been on the list of probable ministers until Monday evening and had not expected a junior to be given preference. After the swearing-in ceremony, speaking to reporters, Abdul Majid Larmi said:"I was deserving; from Pampore to the whole south of Kashmir, I am the senior-most, and I have always stood for the party. I will present my views to the party high command, but I will not separate myself from the party; I am a soldier of the party. Still, it is painful—after all, I am the most senior. I respect the party leadership’s decision; some who are inducted deserved it."The cabinet expansion disappointed not only Larmi but several other legislators, including Mubarak Gul, associated with the party for the last 50 years, and Nazir Gurezi, who is also reportedly not satisfied with the decision.Mubarak Gul, the veteran leader, said: “I was dropped, and then I am dropped now. I have attended 30 oath-taking ceremonies till now. Every time I was dropped, and today as well, I am being dropped.”Although Mubarak Gul was made party general secretary, his workers staged protests at the party headquarters, showing resentment over his exclusion from the cabinet. They raised slogans of “Party se istifa do, General Secretary naa manzoor.”Ali Mohammad Sagar, despite not being well, was inducted in recognition of his vast experience in Jammu and Kashmir politics and his grip within the party. His son, Salman Sagar, the youth face of the National Conference and MLA from Hazratbal, thanked the party high command for the induction, saying it was his father’s experience that had been considered.Speaking to reporters, Salman Sagar said: “Being a son, I am very happy and party has considered his experience and given him (Ali Mohd Sagar) one more chance to serve the people.” He added that there is resentment, but the party had its own compulsion. “The people you named are party pillars and they will be consoled and there is no question of any differences in party.” On questions about Satish Sharma being dropped and allegations of discrimination against Jammu, he said: “Satish is dropped may he will be taken again and we have to see how he was taken and there is no difference in party it’s all our opposition is creating fuss.”Sakina Itoo backed Salman. She said:“What party had decided all is accepting that. Where are the workers protesting at party headquarters, party has given them this right. All can’t be ministers there are many other places where people can serve there are no difference in party.”The newly inducted ministers expressed happiness over the opportunity. Shamima Firdous said:“I will continue to take forward the mission of party founder Sher-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah.” Talking about those who are disappointed, she said: “They are main people they may have some complaints; they will come and talk to party leadership.”Sakina Itoo already in the council of ministers too backed the party’s decision said all can’t be ministers there are many places in the party where people can serve.Sakina Itoo ( Minister ) what party had decided all is accepting that where are the workers protesting at party headquarters party has given them this right. All can’t be ministers there are many other places where people can serve there are no difference in party”The ruling alliance partner, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, reiterated that it would not join the Omar Abdullah-led government. The party has maintained this stand for the past two years, choosing to stay out over the delay in restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.Leader of the Opposition Sunil Sharma congratulated the new ministers but expressed sympathy for those left out or dropped.Sharam said: “I congratulate the newly appointed ministers. They should work hard for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and come out of the political tussle the government is currently caught in to serve the common masses.” He added: “I will wipe their tears, but it is Omar Sahab’s responsibility to wipe those tears. We will stand with them.”The ceremony at Lok Bhawan was attended by senior political leaders and officials. While the National Conference leadership has sought to project unity and described the excluded leaders as party pillars who would be consoled, senior MLAs' open expressions of pain and workers' protests have underlined the undercurrents of resentment following the first major cabinet expansion of the Omar Abdullah government.

Internal resentment spilled onto the streets at the National Conference (NC) headquarters in Srinagar on Tuesday following Chief Minister Omar Abdullahs cabinet expansion.

The construction of a gigantic 60,000 megawatt (MW) hydroelectric dam project in Tibet by China has raised several security and environmental issues for India downstream. India plans the 11,200 MW Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP) in Arunachal Pradesh to defend against any water manipulation or flooding by Chinese authorities. This project can accommodate up to 9.2 billion cubic meters (bcm) of the river water.<h2>China's $167B mega-dam on the Yarlung Tsangpo</h2>Construction of the Yarlung Tsangpo mega-dam project started in the lower reaches of the river in Tibet on July 19, 2025, involving an expenditure of about 1.2 trillion yuan ($167.8 billion).Capacity: The five stages of this dam project have a combined electricity generation capacity of 60,000 MW, which is more than twice the production capacity of the Three Gorges Dam.Downstream impact: The Yarlung Tsangpo directly drains into India after changing its name to the Siang River and joins the Brahmaputra in Assam.India's biggest fear: Water impoundment unilaterally by Beijing in drought months or release in huge volumes in monsoon months can create serious flooding threats for Northeast India.<h2>Defence strategy of India: Siang upper multipurpose project</h2>The Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Chowna Mein, stressed that the proposed Siang Storage Dam is specifically designed as a hydro-buffer against any disruption from upstream areas.Storage capacity: The proposed 280- to 300-meter-high Siang Storage Dam would have the ability to store 9.2 billion cubic meters of water.Regulating flow: The proposed reservoir project would help regulate the flow of water by storing excess flow coming from Tibet and releasing consistent flows during the winter season.<h2>Delays in approval and local ecological Opposition</h2>Despite being a crucial project for India, the Siang Dam project is at its initial stage and needs clearance before its execution. The Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu, said that the Preliminary Feasibility Report (PFR) of the project will help determine if the selected location is geologically and ecologically feasible or not. Local indigenous tribes have expressed opposition to the plan by saying that they would be displaced and their ancestral lands and forests would be submerged.Whether India's 9.2 bcm reservoir can fully neutralise a 60,000 MW mega-structure upstream depends on final engineering specs and actual operational protocols adopted by Beijing.

Chinas ongoing construction of a $167.8 billion, 60,000 MW mega-dam on the Yarlung Tsangpo in Tibet has pushed India to fast-track its 11,200 MW Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP) in Arunachal Pradesh.

Abhishek Sharma's record-breaking show powered India to a series-sealing win over New Zealand in the third T20I at Hnry Stadium in Wellington on Tuesday.Abhishek was on an absolute carnage as he slammed his fourth T20I century, ending at 113 from 38 balls to help India gun down the 199-run target in just 13.2 overs with six wickets in hand. The victory helped India take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.Apart from his fourth T20I century, this was Abhishek's 11th T20 ton, which is now the most by an Indian player in the shortest format. He went past Indian veteran Virat Kohli, who slammed 10 centuries in T20s.This has put Abhishek in third place among the players with most T20 tons, only behind Chris Gayle (22) and Babar Azam (13).While Abhishek slammed another jaw-dropping knock, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, promoted to the opening role for this game, also impressed with 45 from 19 deliveries as record books tumbled and New Zealand bowlers faced the brunt of the Indian batters.India smashed the highest-ever team total in a men's T20I powerplay, hitting 118/0 in the first six overs. This has now become the highest-ever score for a team in a powerplay, going past the previous highest of Romania, who had made 116/0 against Serbia in a T20I in 2021.The two batters made a mockery of the depleted New Zealand bowling attack as they went hammer and tongs behind the target. India also breached the 100-run mark in just five overs, which is the second-fastest by any team in the world, behind Eswatini, who had completed their team hundred in 4.5 overs against Mozambique earlier this year. The Men in Blue also brought up their fifty off just 2.2 overs, which is now the joint-fastest by any team in the world. Papua New Guinea made a team fifty in 2.2 overs against Vanuatu; while Romania had also completed their 50 in 2.2 overs against Serbia. It was a very tough outing for the New Zealand bowlers, who were already missing Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson due to fitness issues. Returning Kyle Jamieson and Matthew Fisher, and captain Mitchell Santner managed to take wickets, with Jamieson scalping two and other taking one each. Jamieson got the prized wicket of Abhishek for 113 in the 10th over, while Fisher accounted for Sooryavanshi (45) in the eighth over.Jamieson struck once more later when he got Sanju Samson for 18, and Santner dismissed Shreyas Iyer for five in the 13th over when the Indian skipper holed one out on deep mid-wicket. But the damage was already done, as Tilak Varma (1) and Naman Dhir (4) took India home in the 14th over to win by six wickets.Earlier, Daryl Mitchell's career-best T20 score of 89* from 52 balls took the hosts to 198/3 in the first innings. The Kiwis were cruising well till the halfway stage of the first innings, as they were 100/2 after 10 overs, but the hosts seemingly ran out of steam as India also displayed good defensive bowling at the back end of the innings to not let them go past 200.Mitchell's innings was the highlight as he carried the New Zealand innings through and batted for the majority of the innings. He remained unbeaten on 89 from 52 balls as his scoring dropped a bit in the final few overs, while Bevon Jacobs made 39 from 23, but the final punch lacked from the Kiwis. The Kiwis were at 123/3 after 12 overs as they looked for a final flourish, but the Indian bowlers adapted well to the conditions and bowled fuller and yorkers, as the straight boundaries here are long and the square ones are shorter.Only 63 runs came from the final seven overs as India bowled good defensive lines. Four different bowlers were used for the death overs, and the visitors did well to keep a lid on the hosts.India have now taken an unassailable lead of 3-0 in the five-match series, clinching yet another T20I series against the Kiwis.Brief Scores: New Zealand 198/3 (Daryl Mitchell 89*, Finn Allen 40; Arshdeep Singh 1-33, Axar Patel 1-36) lost to India (Abhishek Sharma 113, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi 45; Kyle Jamieson 2-45, Mitchell Santner 1-17) by six wickets.

Abhishek Sharma smashed a 35-ball century as India chased down New Zealand’s 199-run target in just 13.2 overs to win the third T20I by six wickets. The victory gave India an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.

New Delhi: The United States has announced a 10-year deal to produce at least 850 F-35 Lightning II fighter jets for its military. The plan targets annual production of 156 aircraft for US and international customers. The agreement offers an example of how long-term procurement planning can support aircraft manufacturing, although it is subject to congressional approval and funding.Announced by the US Department of War and Lockheed Martin on October 22, 2026, the deal includes production Lots 21 to 30. It also includes initial spare parts, modification kits and sustainment support. The Pentagon and Lockheed Martin will have to finalise contract terms, pricing and schedules if the Congress grants the required authority and funding. Lockheed Martin Chief Executive Jim Taiclet said in a statement that the agreement would give the company more confidence to invest in manufacturing capacity and its supply chain.“With the greater certainty that comes from the U.S. government's transformative approach to F-35 production and sustainment, we can make the upfront investments needed to expand capacity, improve efficiency and build a more resilient supply chain,” he said.India is also developing its Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), a planned fifth-generation stealth fighter for the Indian Air Force (IAF). The aircraft has not made its maiden flight, and its development and production will require a partnership between the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and an Indian industry player.<h2>Why long-term orders are important</h2>The US agreement sets out a production schedule over a decade rather than depending on a series of separate annual decisions. Such commitments can help manufacturers plan investments in machinery, facilities, workers and component supplies. They can also allow companies to negotiate bulk purchases and spread fixed costs across a larger number of aircraft. However, the US deal is not so far a final contract. Its production targets and expected savings depend on congressional authorisation, appropriations and the completion of formal contract negotiations.India's fighter manufacturing plans have a different set of requirements. The government must first establish that AMCA meets the IAF's operational needs. It must also select an industry partner and determine how design, testing and production responsibilities will be divided. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) approved an industry-partnership model for the aircraft in May 2025. Under the model, eligible Indian companies can bid independently or as joint ventures or consortia. The stated objective is to use expertise from both the public and private sectors to develop the aircraft's prototypes.Former Defence Secretary G Mohan Kumar has explained the challenges a private company could face in manufacturing a fighter aircraft.Speaking to The Economic Times about the AMCA programme, he said India would need to build an entire network of suppliers and manufacturers capable of producing the aircraft’s components.Building a fighter aircraft requires more than putting its parts together. Manufacturers need skilled workers, reliable suppliers, testing facilities and the capacity to produce parts in the required quantities and to the required standards. Companies also need an idea of how many aircraft they may be asked to build before investing in new factories and equipment.<h2>India's fighter production challenge</h2>India's existing fighter programmes show the challenges facing domestic aircraft production. The IAF has sought faster deliveries as it deals with a shortage of fighter squadrons. In March 2025, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh called for greater private-sector participation in military aircraft manufacturing. He said that India needed to produce 35 to 40 fighters annually to address capability shortfalls and replace ageing aircraft, according to Reuters. The Tejas programme also shows why production capacity and supply-chain performance are as important as aircraft development. Deliveries depend on the availability of engines and other components, as well as the manufacturer's ability to meet production schedules.Orders placed in separate batches can give the government room to adjust spending and operational requirements. However, uncertainty about later orders can make it difficult for suppliers to decide how much additional capacity to build.<h2>The budget challenge for AMCA</h2>India's defence spending must accommodate several competing procurement requirements, say experts. The Union Budget for 2026-27 allocated approximately Rs 2.19 lakh crore for the capital outlay of the defence services. This allocation supports purchases across the armed forces, including aircraft, submarines, tanks, air defence systems and military infrastructure. They said a multi-year AMCA procurement plan would have to account for these requirements and the aircraft's development schedule. The government and the IAF, according to them, would need to determine the number of aircraft required, the pace of deliveries and the funding available for successive production batches. The US F-35 agreement provides an example of a long-term production plan, but the two programmes are at different stages. The F-35 is an established aircraft in production, while AMCA is still in development.<h2>What F-35 deal means for AMCA</h2>The F-35 deal does not mean India should order hundreds of AMCA aircraft before the design and testing process is complete. It shows how a long-term procurement plan can give manufacturers a basis for planning production and investing in their supply chains.Once AMCA completes the required trials, the experts said, India will have to decide the scale of its fleet and the production capacity needed to deliver it. A multi-year procurement schedule could help companies assess investments in facilities, skilled workers and domestic component manufacturing. The plan would also need to accommodate changes in costs, production rates and technical requirements as the aircraft enters service. Future orders would have to match the IAF's operational requirements and the government's available funding.AMCA's development and production timeline will depend on technical progress and decisions by the government and the IAF. The selection of an industry partner and the division of responsibilities between ADA and the chosen company will determine the next phase of the programme.

The US agreement sets out a 10-year production plan for the F-35, while India is developing its fifth-generation AMCA fighter and preparing to bring an industry partner into the programme.

The Bombay High Court on Monday deferred the hearing on actor Imran Khan’s writ petition challenging the Foreigners Regional Registration Office’s (FRRO) ‘Leave India’ notice to November 2 at 3:00 PM, after the Centre requested additional time to file its response. The division bench comprised Chief Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi and Justice Advait Sethna. Crucially, the court directed that the FRRO order be kept in abeyance in the interim, ensuring that no coercive action or deportation steps will be initiated against the actor before the next hearing. The ruling provides immediate relief to Khan, whose exit deadline was originally set for Tuesday, October 28.<h3 data-path-to-node="5">Oral assurance in court: 'Nothing will happen'</h3>During the proceedings, senior advocate Venkatesh Dhond, representing Imran Khan, highlighted the urgency of the petition, noting, "But I have to leave tomorrow."Responding to the court on behalf of the government, the law officer assured the bench that the matter could be safely listed for the following Monday, stating, "Nothing will happen. That is an oral assurance." Taking note of the Centre's commitment, the bench ordered the notice to remain suspended until the matter is heard next week.<h3 data-path-to-node="9">Origin of the dispute: Detained during Mumbai protest</h3>The legal battle stems from an incident on October 10, when Mumbai Police detained Imran Khan near August Kranti Maidan during a public protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Khan’s partner, Lekha Washington, and cousin, Zayn Marie Khan, were also detained during the demonstration.Four days later, on October 14, the FRRO issued a Leave India Notice (LIN) directing the actor—who holds US citizenship alongside an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card—to leave the country by October 28 under Sections 7(2)(C) and 29 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.<h3 data-path-to-node="13">Imran Khan challenges notice as arbitrary violation of rights</h3>In response to the FRRO directive, Khan filed a writ petition titled Imran Khan Pal v. Union of India &amp; Ors, through his legal team comprising Zulfiquar Memon, Parvez Memon, and Kunal Vajani. The petition argues that the exit notice is arbitrary, unconstitutional, and a direct violation of his fundamental rights under Articles 14 and 21 of the Indian Constitution. Furthermore, Khan’s counsel questioned the procedure followed by the authorities, pointing out that the actor was denied a prior hearing or a fair opportunity to respond via a standard show-cause notice before the order was issued.Known for his breakout debut in Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na and hit films such as Delhi Belly, Break Ke Baad, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, the actor will now await the High Court's detailed review of the matter on November 2.

The Bombay High Court has put the FRROs Leave India Notice against actor Imran Khan on hold until November 2 after the Centre gave assurances that no coercive steps would be taken ahead of his scheduled October 28 exit deadline.
