BMW has revealed the F 450 RR. It is the third motorcycle built on its 420cc engine platform. The F 450 GS came first, revealed last November. The F 450 R followed just two weeks ago. TVS manufactures all three in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.
What stays the same
The F 450 RR sits in BMW’s entry-level range. It shares its engine and steel tubular chassis with the other two 450s. The engine works as a stressed part of the chassis. The 420cc liquid-cooled twin still makes 48hp at 8,750rpm and 43Nm at 6,750rpm. The suspension, brakes and kerb weight are closer to the sport-naked F 450 R. The RR adds sportbike touches, like winglets and a full fairing.
Hardware
The F 450 RR gets 17-inch tyres at both ends. KYB supplies the 43mm USD fork and the monoshock. The monoshock gets rebound and preload adjustment as standard. The standard seat height is 790mm. BMW offers two other seat options with 810mm and 775mm height. You get a 310mm front disc with a Brembo four-piston monobloc caliper. The rear has a Bybre 240mm disc. The base variant weighs 177kg.
Variants and features
You can pick from four variants: Base, Exclusive, M Sport and M Sport with Innovation Package. All four get the same rider aids as the R, including dual-channel and lean-sensitive ABS, a 6.5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity and three ride modes, named Rain, Road and Race.
Here is how the variants differ:
Base: Comes only in Cosmic Black.
Exclusive: Adds Racing Red paint, a bi-directional quickshifter and Sport suspension. The Sport suspension gives the USD fork rebound and compression adjustment.
M Sport: Adds a Race Pro ride mode that you can customise. It also gets a Snaefell white and M Motorsport colour scheme.
M Sport with Innovation Package: Gets everything in the M Sport. It also adds ERC (Easy Ride Clutch). This is BMW’s take on clutchless riding. We first saw it on the F 450 GS.
India launch
BMW hasn’t shared prices for the F 450 RR. It hasn’t given an India launch date either. The same goes for the F 450 R. The F 450 GS reached India six months after its global reveal. If the same pattern holds, the R and the RR could arrive in the first quarter of 2027.
Once they land, we expect the F 450 R to be the cheapest of the three. The RR should sit between the R and the GS. Currently, the F 450 GS Base starts at Rs 4.95 lakh.
BMW also sells another TVS-built sportbike in India. It is the G 310 RR, and it is listed on the BMW Motorrad India website. The G 310 R and G 310 GS were discontinued last year. That leaves the G 310 RR as BMW’s only single-cylinder motorcycle.
