The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the schedule for Class 10 and Class 12 practical examinations for the 2026-27 academic session. As per the latest notification, practical examinations, project assessments and internal assessments for students studying in winter-bound schools will be conducted from November 9 to December 19, 2026.
The board issued the notification on November 5, asking schools located in winter-bound regions to complete the assessment process within the specified period.
These schools generally remain closed during January due to severe winter conditions, which is why CBSE has scheduled their practical examinations earlier than those of regular-session schools.
Students appearing for the CBSE Board Exams 2027 should contact their respective schools to know the subject-wise practical examination dates and other arrangements.
Along with the examination schedule, CBSE has issued instructions that schools must follow while conducting practical examinations and internal assessments.
Schools have been directed to prepare the final list of eligible candidates before the assessment process begins. Only students whose names have been submitted through the online List of Candidates (LOC) will be permitted to appear for the examinations.
The board has also clarified that Class 10 internal assessments will be conducted only once. Schools must complete the assessment process and upload the marks of all eligible students within the prescribed timeline.
CBSE has asked schools to coordinate with their respective regional offices for the appointment of external examiners and observers wherever required.
Schools must ensure that practical examinations and project assessments are conducted within the announced schedule. Class 12 practical examination answer books must also be sent to the concerned CBSE Regional Offices as per the board's instructions.
Students should know that the newly announced timetable is specifically meant for schools located in winter-bound regions.
Schools following the regular academic calendar will receive a separate circular from CBSE containing instructions for their practical examinations, project assessments and internal assessments.
Students are advised to remain in touch with their school authorities for updates regarding their practical examination schedule.
They should also regularly visit the official CBSE website, cbse.gov.in, for the latest notifications related to the 2027 board examinations.
