Cleaning glass on 44th floor, Jharkhand worker reveals salary and why he isn't scared

New Delhi: A worker from Jharkhand has gone viral on social media after a video showed him cleaning the glass windows of a high-rise building from the outside of its 44th floor in Nankramguda, Telangana. During a conversation with the person recording the video, he shared details of his monthly salary, the benefits provided by his employer and why he no longer feels afraid of working at such a height.

Recorded by one Nirbhay Sharma, the video shows two workers suspended outside a high-rise building as they clean its glass windows and balconies. They hang several floors above the ground, suspended by ropes and safety equipment as they clean the building's exterior.

The conversation offers a glimpse into the working life of people who travel far from their homes to earn a living through physically demanding jobs.

When asked about his earnings, he said he receives Rs 25,000 a month for cleaning the glass windows and balconies of tall buildings. He also said his company provides rice, cooking gas and an allowance for travel.

He is originally from Jharkhand and has been doing this job in Telangana for the past five to six years. His candid replies have struck a chord with social media users, many of whom have called for better safety measures for workers who clean tall buildings.

The job requires workers to operate outside buildings at considerable heights, where they must carefully manage their equipment while cleaning large glass surfaces. A slip or equipment failure can lead to a serious accident.

‘I have got used to it’

His answer to a question about fear has become one of the most talked-about moments in the video. “Aadat ho gaya hai, 5-6 saal se kar rahe hain to ab dar nahi lagta (I have got used to it. I have been doing this for five to six years, so I don't feel scared anymore),” he says.

He talks casually about a job that many people would find frightening. He has spent the past five to six years cleaning the exterior of tall buildings.

Titled ‘Dangerous Work in Nankramguda’, the video has prompted emotional reactions from viewers. Several users have urged the workers to take extra care at such heights, while others have prayed for their safety as they go about their daily work.

One user commented, “Brother, please be careful while working. This is really risky.”

Another wrote, “May God protect all of you. What doesn't a person do for their family?”
