The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has extended the deadline for IPL franchises to submit their final list of retained and released players by two days. Teams will now have until November 17 to finalise their decisions ahead of the IPL 2027 mini auction.

The original deadline was November 15. However, the mini auction will take place as scheduled on December 16 in Goa, with no change to the date or venue, according to reports.

The extension comes ahead of the fifth and final ODI between India and New Zealand, scheduled for November 15 at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. The match coincides with the original retention deadline.

IPL 2027 auction schedule remains unchanged

Despite the change to the retention deadline, the BCCI has retained the existing timeline for the IPL 2027 mini auction. The event will be held in Goa on December 16.

The auction date also coincides with India's second ODI against Sri Lanka. The match is scheduled to take place at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. However, there has been no reported change to the auction schedule.

The player registration process opened on November 2. Once franchises finalise their retention and release lists by November 17, the player registration window will close on November 23.

Teams will then have until December 1 to submit their final list of players they wish to target at the auction. The final auction register, including the player sets, is scheduled to be released on December 3.

IPL 2027 auction returns to India

The IPL 2027 mini auction will be held in India after the previous three auctions were hosted overseas. The 2023 mini auction took place in Dubai, while the 2024 mega-auction was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The previous mini auction was hosted at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.

Goa has been selected as the venue for the upcoming mini auction, which will be a key event for franchises as they finalise their squads for the 2027 season.

Meanwhile, two trades have already taken place ahead of the auction. Rishabh Pant has returned to Delhi Capitals from Lucknow Super Giants, with Kuldeep Yadav moving to Lucknow. In another deal, fast bowler T Natarajan has moved to Sunrisers Hyderabad, while leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari has joined Delhi Capitals.

The BCCI has yet to finalise the dates for the IPL 2027 season. The mini auction on December 16 will give franchises an opportunity to strengthen their squads ahead of the next edition.
