The third-generation Hyundai Creta, codenamed SX3, was recently spotted testing in Manali. The spy shots show a few new design details, such as fresh alloy wheels and modern door handles. It will sit on the K3 platform, just like the Seltos. That makes it bigger than the current model and gives it a roomier cabin. The next-gen Creta is likely to launch by mid-2027.

    What the spy shots show
The new alloy wheels look sportier than the ones we saw earlier. We can't tell the exact size from the images, but they look similar to before. The front gets a boxy grille with rectangular elements, much like the Venue. A radar sensor sits in the centre for the advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). The headlights are split. LED DRLs sit on top, and the headlight units sit lower down.

You can also spot front and rear parking sensors. The LED taillights are split into three segments. The ORVMs are revised and carry a camera pod for the surround-view feed. The door handles are flush-type.

    Interior and tech
Hyundai is expected to redo the whole interior. It should look more minimal and premium than the current cabin. A test mule spied overseas had a massive infotainment screen. It seems to be part of the next-gen Pleos Connect system. That system also includes a slim digital driver’s display.

    Engine options
Hyundai is reportedly working on a strong hybrid powertrain for the Creta. It will be shared with the Kia Seltos too. The strong hybrid setup is expected to be based on the current 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. The current engine lineup should continue. That means a 115hp 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 160hp 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 116hp 1.5-litre diesel. Manual and automatic gearboxes should stay too.

    Price and rivals
We expect the 2027 Creta to cost more than the current model. The current Creta, including the N Line, costs Rs 10.79 lakh to Rs 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom).

It will keep rivalling midsize SUVs like the Tata Sierra, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Nissan Tekton, and Volkswagen Taigun. It will also give buyers an alternative to strong hybrid rivals. These include the Maruti Victoris, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder and Renault Duster.
