BPSC scraps 1,711 assistant professor vacancies in Bihar medical colleges; Fresh advertisements soon

The Bihar Public Service Commission has cancelled the recruitment drive for 1,711 Assistant Professor (Specialty) posts in the state's government medical colleges and hospitals. The Commission announced the decision on Friday, October 30.

The cancellation covers advertisements numbered 04/2025 to 28/2025, which were published on April 4, 2025.

They invited applications for regular appointments in specialist teaching roles under the state Health Department.

According to the Commission's notice, the advertisements were withdrawn after the Health Department pulled back the petitions it had submitted for these posts.

Reports add that the department's original requisition for the vacancies was withdrawn.

The cancelled drive was meant to fill vacancies across several specialty departments in Bihar's medical institutions.

Applicants needed a postgraduate medical degree, such as an MD or MS, in the relevant subject.

The Commission has said that fresh advertisements will be released once it receives a revised requisition from the Health Department.

This means the process is not being dropped altogether.

Candidates will have to apply again when the new notices appear, and no date for them has been announced.
