In a concerning escalation of threat calls targeting film personalities, Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana has allegedly received a threatening audio message demanding crores of rupees in extortion. Police authorities have launched a formal probe to trace the origin of the message and identify those involved.

Extortion threat claimed by Lawrence Gang

According to sources, as reported by Aaj Tak, the perpetrator who sent the audio clip claimed to be associated with the notorious Lawrence gang. Law enforcement agencies are currently reviewing the audio message and cross-referencing the sender's voice with established records to verify the authenticity of the claim.

Ayushmann Khurrana is yet to issue an official statement regarding the development.

Surge in celebrity threats under scanner

This incident comes amidst a heightened police crackdown on extortion networks targeting the entertainment industry. The surge in threats follows the recent high-profile firing incident outside actor Tiger Shroff’s residence, which prompted security agencies to intensify overall surveillance across the film fraternity.

Prior to the message sent to Khurrana, actor Tusshar Kapoor had also received a similar threatening audio clip sent under the moniker 'Harry Boxer', though preliminary police investigations suggested that the specific message may have been a hoax. Authorities are working to determine whether these recent threats are coordinated efforts or isolated incidents.

    On the work front

On the professional front, Ayushmann Khurrana was most recently seen in Udta Teer, sharing the screen with Sara Ali Khan. Directed and written by Akash A Kaushik, the espionage comedy follows a spy who accidentally stumbles into a chaotic web of secrets and distrust.

Jointly produced by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment—under Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor, and Achin Jain—the film features an ensemble supporting cast including Raghubir Yadav, Brijendra Kala, Gulshan Grover, Suhail Nayyar, Rahul Bose, Mukul Dev, Ram Kapoor, and Supriya Pilgaonkar.
