The auspicious occasion of Diwali will be marked this year on November 8. The festival of lights is celebrated with much gusto and fervour. Actress and choreographer Lauren Gottlieb, who has featured in many Indian movies like ABCD: Anybody Can Dance, Welcome Back, and Ghoomketu shared her first Diwali experience in India and also picked her favourite Bollywood tracks to dance on Diwali. Take a look below:

Q. Do you remember your very first Diwali celebration in India? What was it like?

What has stayed with me about celebrating festivals in India is the warmth, colour and sense of togetherness that comes with them. Having experienced Indian celebrations through dance and being part of the festive energy here, I’ve come to appreciate how deeply music, traditions and family are woven into these occasions. Diwali, especially, has such a beautiful spirit to it. The lights, the diyas and the joy of people coming together make it a celebration that feels truly special.

Q. If you had to pick three Bollywood tracks that capture the energy of a Diwali party, which ones would make it to the top of your playlist?

I would pick Gallan Goodiyaan, London Thumakda and Badtameez Dil. Each one brings a different kind of energy to a party, but they all have one thing in common: they make people want to get up and dance! I love music that brings everyone together, regardless of where they come from. For me, the perfect festive playlist is one where the music starts playing, and nobody wants to sit down.

Q. As we step into this festive season, what is one wish or goal you have for yourself?

My wish this festive season is to keep growing as an artist, challenge myself with new opportunities and continue discovering different sides of who I am. Dance has taken me across the world and brought me closer to so many cultures, and I’m grateful for every experience that has shaped me. I also want to make more time for the people I love, stay connected to what makes me happy and keep finding reasons to celebrate, both on and off the dance floor.
