A six-year-old kindergarten girl was seriously injured after a Class 3 boy allegedly attacked her with stones and a flowerpot inside a government school in Haryana’s Panchkula. The incident, which occurred on Thursday at Sanskriti Model School in Sector 20, was captured on CCTV. Police have begun an investigation, while the Haryana education department has ordered an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the assault.
According to investigators, the footage appears to show the Class 3 boy taking the girl to an empty classroom on the first floor, where he allegedly attacked her. The girl’s relatives told news agency ANI that the boy had told her that her father wanted to meet her.
The footage reportedly shows the boy pushing the girl to the floor, hitting her with stones and a flowerpot and kicking her repeatedly. He allegedly pulled her by the hair after she fell unconscious. Police said they were examining the footage and questioning school staff to establish the sequence of events.
The two cases in Anantapur and Panchkula involving schoolchildren are not isolated incidents but wake-up calls. Protecting children in schools must be non-negotiable. Alongside stronger safeguards and counselling, we must also nurture empathy, respect and non-violence among children. Let's ensure prevention before tragedy strikes. #school #SafetyFirst Vid: WA and SM

The girl’s family began searching for her after she did not reach the vehicle arranged to take her home. Her relatives said the boy later directed them to the classroom where she was lying injured.
She was first taken to the Civil Hospital in Sector 6, Panchkula, from where doctors referred her to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh because of the seriousness of her injuries.
She was initially reported to be in a critical condition. A later report published by The Times of India on Saturday said her condition had become stable. She continues to receive treatment at the hospital.
Police from the Sector 20 police station visited the school and questioned staff members and the boy’s parents. The investigation is examining the CCTV evidence, the events on the first floor and whether the children were properly supervised.
The girl’s relatives have questioned the school’s safety and supervision arrangements and asked why no staff member intervened during the assault. They have also sought an explanation for how the child remained untraceable until her family arrived to collect her.
Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda has constituted a committee to probe the incident. He said the government was treating the matter seriously, and action would be taken if negligence was established.
Meanwhile, the police have taken the Class 3 student to PGIMER on Saturday for an assessment.
