A 33-year-old woman and her six-year-old son died after falling from the 18th floor of a residential building in the Dange Chowk area of Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, on Friday evening, police said.

The incident came to light at around 6.30 pm when residents heard a noise from the building's duct area and found the woman and the child lying there. The police were alerted and rushed to the spot.

The woman was identified as Ekta Bhangad, who lived on the seventh floor of the building with her husband, Manoj Bhangad, 35, and their son. The family originally hails from Rajasthan and had been living in the building for the past two years.

    CCTV Footage Examined

According to the police, Manoj, who works at an IT company in Yerawada, had left for work at around 10 am on Friday, while his wife and son were at home.

As part of the investigation, police examined CCTV footage from the residential building. Preliminary findings reportedly showed Ekta taking the lift to the 18th floor with her son. The footage also appeared to show them removing their footwear before falling from the building.

The circumstances leading to the incident remain unclear, and police are investigating the matter.

    Forensic Team Called To Spot

The bodies have been sent to YCM Hospital for further legal formalities. A forensic team has also been called to the scene as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
