India have suffered an injury setback ahead of their five-match ODI series against New Zealand, with fast bowler Prasidh Krishna ruled out of the assignment due to a hamstring injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Thursday that the pacer needs additional time to recover and regain the workload required to return to competitive cricket.

Prasidh's selection for the ODI series was subject to fitness clearance. With the right-arm pacer still recovering, the team management has decided against rushing his return ahead of India's upcoming two-match Test series against New Zealand.

According to the BCCI, Prasidh could join the India A squad for the third and final four-day match against New Zealand A, provided he clears the Return to Play (RTP) assessment. The move is aimed at helping him gain match practice ahead of the Test series, which begins on November 19.

Mohammed Siraj to join India A for second four-day match

Meanwhile, senior India pacer Mohammed Siraj will join the India A squad for the second four-day match against New Zealand A, starting October 31, 2026.

Siraj's inclusion in the India A squad comes as the team prepares for the upcoming Test assignment. The second four-day match will provide him with an opportunity to feature in red-ball cricket ahead of the two-Test series.
