Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG bookings open at Rs 21,000: Deliveries start today

Mahindra has opened bookings for the new CNG versions of the XUV 3XO compact SUV. You can book one for a token amount of Rs 21,000. You can do it on Mahindra’s website or at a dealership. Deliveries have also commenced today.

Engine and performance
The XUV 3XO CNG uses the SUV's entry-level 1.2-litre MPFi three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. Most CNG cars lose power when they switch to gas. This one doesn’t. Mahindra tuned the turbo and the ECU mapping. It also added a 10-bar CNG injection system. The engine makes 111hp and 200Nm in both petrol and CNG modes.

There is one catch. The petrol XUV 3XO offers an automatic gearbox, but the CNG doesn’t. You only get a 6-speed manual. Mahindra claims a 0-100 km/h time of 11.8 seconds in CNG mode. It also claims a fuel efficiency of 24.7km/kg.

Design and cabin
From the outside, the CNG looks just like the petrol and diesel versions. The only change is a ZNG badge on the boot lid, showing that it's a CNG model. The interior is the same too. You get a CNG switch to the right of the steering wheel. The boot shrinks to 270 litres because the twin cylinders sit underneath.

Trims and features
The XUV 3XO CNG comes in four trims: MX Edge, RevX Edge (O), AX5 and RevX A. It doesn't cover the very top of the XUV 3XO range. Still, the loaded RevX A has plenty to offer. You get dual 10.25-inch displays, a panoramic sunroof and leatherette seats. It also has a 6-speaker sound system, dual-zone climate control and a tyre pressure monitoring system. LED headlamps and taillamps come along with 6 airbags and more.

Rivals
The XUV 3XO CNG mainly takes on the CNG versions of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and the Tata Nexon.
