Amitabh Bachchan's residence, Jalsa, along with the Bombay High Court, Bombay Stock Exchange, and Worli Racecourse, was named as a target in a bomb threat email, prompting Mumbai Police to launch an immediate investigation and step up security across key locations.

Mumbai Police and cyber security agencies have launched an extensive investigation after a fresh bomb threat email was received, explicitly naming prominent landmarks across the city including Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan's residence, Jalsa. The high-profile threat has prompted authorities to immediately scale up security protocols at key institutional and commercial sites.

Multiple key landmarks named in threat email

According to a report by news agency IANS, the threat was delivered via an email sent directly to the Bombay High Court, outlining plans to target several high-security zones across the city.

Quoting official sources, Mumbai Police stated, "A bomb threat email sent to the Bombay High Court has triggered a security alert in Mumbai. The email also threatened to blow up the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Worli Racecourse and Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan’s bungalow, Jalsa. Mumbai Police and other security agencies have taken the threat seriously and are investigating the email to identify the sender. Further details are awaited."

Following the alert, bomb disposal squads and local police units conducted thorough security sweeps around the named locations to rule out any immediate danger.

Pattern of Recurring Threat Mails in Mumbai

This latest incident comes shortly after another security scare on October 23, when a threat email allegedly aimed at Amitabh Bachchan’s Mumbai property was reported. That specific mail was received by a school located in Mumbai's Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) area, sparking a swift response from law enforcement. Investigators are working to trace the origin of both messages to ascertain if there is a common link.

Earlier, the headquarters of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)—the civic body responsible for municipal administration and essential civic services in Mumbai—also received a similar threat email. A complete security inspection of the BMC office was carried out immediately by law enforcement personnel, though no suspicious objects or hazardous materials were discovered during the search.

Past Incidents of Similar Threats

The series of hoaxes echoes a previous security incident on March 20, when the Mumbai Press Club received an email claiming that 42 small poison-gas devices had been planted inside its premises to explode at 1:00 PM.

In that instance, the sender identified themselves as "Neeraja Ajmal Khan" and claimed to represent a group from Coimbatore making political allegations regarding local party dynamics and UAPA arrests in Tamil Nadu. The mail insisted the devices were intended solely to cause property damage and urged the building to be evacuated. Bomb squads subsequently cleared the area after confirming the claim was a hoax.

Law enforcement agencies and cyber cell units are currently tracing the IP addresses and digital footprints associated with the latest threat mail to apprehend the individuals responsible.
