Demonstrating high alertness and professional vigilance, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel deployed at Gaya Airport intercepted suspected contraband gold during a routine pre-embarkation security screening today.

At approximately 11:40 AM on 28 October 2026, a passenger traveling on an IndiGo domestic flight to Kolkata submitted his cabin baggage for screening at the Pre-Embarkation Security Check (PESC) point inside the Domestic Security Hold Area (SHA) of Gaya Airport. During the X-Ray Baggage Inspection System (X-BIS) scan, an alert CISF screener noticed an anomalous, dense metallic mass concealed inside the bag and promptly diverted it for a thorough physical inspection.

A detailed examination of the baggage revealed a biscuit-shaped, gold-colored metallic piece weighing approximately 110 grams, suspected to be gold, carried without supporting documentation.

Displaying swift inter-agency coordination, the Crime Intelligence Wing (CIW) of CISF ASG Gaya immediately notified Income Tax Department authorities in Gaya and Patna. Simultaneously, advance actionable information was relayed to CISF ASG Kolkata.

Upon the aircraft's arrival at Kolkata Airport, the passenger was intercepted by Income Tax Department officials for lawful custody and further investigation in accordance with statutory procedures.

The prompt detection and effective inter-agency coordination highlight the CISF’s stringent access control, round-the-clock vigilance, and zero-error operational posture across the nation's civil aviation network.
