Indian comedian Harsh Gujral cracked UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath up at a state award function in Lucknow on October 27, 2026. During the ceremony, the Kanpur-based comedian was receiving the Creator of the Year award, during which time he made light of the law and order scenario in Uttar Pradesh.

The line that cracked up the Chief Minister

In his speech, Gujral stood next to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and thanked the latter for his important role in governing the state.

"You must be carrying the burden of all of Uttar Pradesh," said Gujral, prompting a smile and nod from the Chief Minister.

Gujral then spoke about his previous experience of coming to Lucknow for a stand-up comedy gig where he went around the city and talked to a local street vendor.

The setup: The comedian asked the vendor if crimes were being committed in the region.

The response: The vendor assured Gujral that crime did not exist anymore in the city.

The twist: "But how do you know this?" Gujral asked.

"Brother, I used to commit crimes too before, but now I am selling bananas," came the deadpan reply.

The punchline sent Chief Minister Adityanath into fits of laughter, with the audience joining in to applaud the quick-witted observation.

Viral video draws massive online engagement

Gujral posted a clip of the stage exchange to his Instagram account following the Lucknow ceremony.

The video quickly racked up millions of views across social media platforms, with viewers praising both Gujral's comedic timing and the Chief Minister's candid reaction.
