New Delhi: Navigating the stock market comes with its own sets of challenges. Jumping into trading has similar hurdle because one has to track down trust-worthy data. It also risky to buy shares just because everyone else is doing. Furthermore, to buy a stock just because someone has recommended it is not free from risk either. For Chartered Accountant Manish Malhotra, making smart investment and trading moves are a combination of three major parts -- a. analysing data, b. verifying its authenticity, and c. comparing companies.Malhotra highlights Kwala Intel as a research tool that helps him access financial reports, compare company financial ratios, review historical records and track market indicators. According to him, the platform saves research time and helps him form an independent opinion when advising clients on investments and trading. How Kwala Intel helps with stock research and financial analysisAccording to Malhotra, a CA's responsibility extends beyond identifying investment opportunities. When clients seek advice, he needs to verify the authenticity of the available data, compare companies and assess not only their past performance but also their future prospects. Kwala Intel helps him access financial reports and compare financial ratios from one company to another. This allows him to examine company performance using data rather than relying solely on market sentiment or what other investors are buying. The platform also provides information about how long a company has been operating, alongside financial and historical records. Malhotra says this information helps him save several hours of research time that he can devote to other aspects of his work.Kwala Intel's 20-year historical data and performance ratiosOne of the features CA Malhotra highlights is the availability of historical company records extending up to 20 years, along with performance ratios.Historical data can help investors examine how a company has performed over different periods, while financial ratios allow them to compare businesses and evaluate their financial performance. Reviewing these details can form part of the process of assessing a company's track record and considering its future growth prospects. For Malhotra, having this information available through a single platform makes the research process more convenient. He views Kwala Intel as a tool that supports his analysis and helps him develop an informed opinion before advising investors.Market depth and Put-Call Ratio: How the tool supports trading analysis Investment research and trading analysis often require different types of information. While long-term investors may focus on company fundamentals and historical performance, traders may also need to assess market conditions quickly.Malhotra says Kwala Intel helps him access market depth and the Put-Call Ratio (PCR), which traders use as part of their market analysis.Market depth provides information about buy and sell orders at different price levels, while the Put-Call Ratio compares put and call activity or open interest, depending on the measure being used. These indicators can help traders assess market conditions and sentiment.According to Malhotra, quick access to such information is particularly useful when trading decisions need to be made within seconds. Delays in accessing or interpreting relevant data can affect the decision-making process, making timely information an important part of trading analysis. However, these indicators should be considered alongside other relevant information and do not guarantee accurate predictions of market movements or profitable trades. Why data verification matters when advising investorsMalhotra emphasises that investors should not buy a stock simply because other people are buying it. Data analysis and factual verification are important when evaluating an investment opportunity. For a professional advising clients, this involves checking whether the available information is reliable, comparing companies using financial ratios and examining historical performance. It also involves assessing what a company might be capable of achieving in the future.Kwala Intel serves as one of the tools Malhotra uses in this process. Its financial reports, company comparisons and historical database help him bring relevant information together before forming an opinion. The platform, therefore, supports the research process rather than replacing the need for independent evaluation. However, Malhotra makes an important distinction between using a research tool and relying on it entirely for investment decisions. He says no tool should be treated as an unquestionable source of investment advice. Instead, a platform can provide data, suggestions and an opinion that users must evaluate using their own judgement. For investors, this means that even when financial reports, historical records and market indicators are readily available, the responsibility to assess the information and understand the associated risks remains with them.Kwala Intel can assist with data collection, comparisons and analysis, but the final investment or trading decision should not be based solely on a tool's suggestions. How to get started with Kwala Intel Investors and traders interested in exploring Kwala Intel can follow three simple steps to access its stock research features.Visit the website: Go to the official Kwala Intel website at https://kwalaintel.com/in/. Log in and choose a plan: Log in to the platform and select the unlimited AI stock research plan advertised at Rs 199 per month. Check the website for the latest pricing and subscription terms. Search for a stock or ask a question: Enter a stock name in the search bar or use the voice or text input options to ask a question and access AI-based analysis. These features are intended to make stock-related information and research more accessible. However, as Malhotra emphasises, investors should evaluate the information independently rather than treating any tool's output as a final investment recommendation. The platform describes itself as an unlimited AI stock research plan priced at Rs 199 per month. Prospective users can visit the website to check the current plan details, features and applicable terms before subscribing.

As part of the company’s global plan, Microsoft is offering 60,000 employees in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and India a voluntary departure scheme. The buyout offer is available to employees up to Level 70 and below. This bracket covers a vast majority of the company's workforce that includes entry level engineers, mid-management and senior roles. According to an internal company memo by Amy Coleman, Microsoft’s Chief People Officer, the program is designed for eligible staff who are ready to explore career opportunities outside the company."Today, we're introducing a new Voluntary Exit Offer (VEO) to eligible employees within participating organisations. This offer gives eligible employees who may be considering a future outside the company a new choice to make that transition now with support," Coleman stated in the communication. "It also gives participating organisations another way to adapt their workforce to changing needs."The buyout offer, as per the memo, will provide departing employees with financial compensation packages alongside dedicated career planning resources. Micosoft though has clarified that the buyout scheme will not be applied universally across all internal teams."Some organisations are providing the Voluntary Exit Offer, and some are not. Participation varies based on each business's priorities, customer commitments and workforce needs," Coleman said. He further noted that eligible individuals would receive emails containing specific offer details."The Voluntary Exit Offer is new for us. We'll learn from it," Coleman wrote. "At the same time, we'll keep helping people focus on the work that matters most, build new skills and, where it makes sense, find new opportunities across Microsoft. There is no one-size-fits-all approach for every team or every employee."

New Delhi: Noel Tata has escalated his challenge to N Chandrasekaran's reappointment as Executive Chairman of Tata Sons, alleging procedural lapses in the board decision and raising questions over potential conflict of interest. In a letter dated to Tata Sons Company Secretary Suprakash Mukhopadhyay, Noel Tata has sought extensive records and disclosures within seven days, arguing that the reappointment resolution is void.According to Noel Tata, the reappointment of Chandrasekaran for five years from February 21, 2027 was improperly introduced. He said neither the original nor the revised board agenda identified a resolution on the Executive Chairman's reappointment with Item 7 described only as Debriefing from Nomination and Remuneration Committee (NRC).The resolution was moved under that item even though the committee's agenda and minutes had not been circulated to directors, he added. He also questioned the absence of a selection committee under Article 118 of Tata Sons' Articles of Association and said the affirmative vote required from directors appointed under Article 104B read with Article 121 was not obtained.Noel Tata further objected to the company secretary certifying the resolution and filing it with the Registrar of Companies before board minutes were finalised. He has demanded the original audio-video recording and transcript of the September 17 meeting, final minutes, individual voting records and audit trail of changes to board papers. The second issue concerns Hanno One Warehousing -- a company whose directors include Chandrasekaran's wife and son.Noel Tata questioned whether these commercial relationships were disclosed to Tata Sons before the reappointment was considered. He also questioned the role of Venu Srinivasan -- TVS Motor's Chairman Emeritus and member of Tata Sons' NRC -- who participated in the September 3 deliberations and cast the Article 104B director's vote.He said Srinivasan ought to have disclosed the dealings and recused himself.

According to Noel Tata, the reappointment of Chandrasekaran for five years from February 21, 2027 was improperly introduced.

The organisation has also said that once the relevant Consumer Price Index (CPI) data is available and new rate is calculated, the proposal should be placed before the competent authority for approval. The Confederation has requested the government to speed up the process for the DA installment due from July 1, 2026, citing rising household expenses and other financial needs. The organisation said that the pending process should be completed soon so that the arrears and revised salary payments can be settled through the normal process.
How much DA can rise?
The AICPI-IW index is used to calculate DA calculations. Based on the latest data, DA for employees and pensioners is expected to increase by 3-4 percentage points to 63 or 64 percent for the July cycle. The 12 months of AICPI-IW figures needed to calculate the July 2026 DA revision are now complete. Based on the index, the DA or DR is expected to be 3-4 percent which would raise the current DA from 60 percent to 64 percent. The final DA rate will depend on the government’s calculation and rounding. However, central government employees expect it to be around 63–64 percent.

Once the Cabinet makes an announcement, central government employees will increased DA hike in their salary along with six months of arrears from January 2026.

It was trading at $114.44, down 1.95 per cent.Similarly, US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) dropped 2.49 per cent or $2.58 to $100.69 per barrel. The decline followed overbought signals after Brent surged nearly 90 per cent this year on supply concerns. The prices had rallied on Friday to their highest since April amid reports that the US and Israel could prepare strikes on Iran after the US midterm elections in early November.Commodity market experts said, "Crude oil fell below $102 a barrel, retreating from recent highs despite fears that strikes against Iran could resume after Israeli elections this week and US midterm elections next week.“US President Donald Trump said on Sunday he would soon decide whether to pursue a deal with Tehran or restart military operations, while threats from Iran and the Houthis against Americans in the Middle East continue to escalate,” the experts added.Clashes between Saudi Arabia and Iran-backed Houthi rebels intensified over the weekend, though Middle Eastern crude exports have recovered to near pre-war levels, according to them. However, the narrow waterway connecting the Persian Gulf to global markets remains a focal point.Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the US and Israel would not attempt an attack if rationality prevailed.Fighting between Saudi Arabia and Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen also added to supply risks. The Houthis claimed they targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh in response to Saudi strikes on Sanaa, as per reports.Notably, higher oil prices weighed on US equities as major indices ended lower on Friday despite some stabilisation in technology shares after a volatile week for AI-related stocks.Asian markets traded cautiously as oil prices retreated from six-month highs with investors bracing for a busy week of central bank meetings and corporate earnings that could test confidence in the AI-driven rally.

New Delhi: Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to generate $2.52 trillion in annual economic value worldwide by automating and enhancing existing work processes, but rising deployment costs could significantly reduce those benefits, according to a new report by consulting firm McKinsey. The report, titled The AI Value Curve: The Economics of Applying AI to Existing Work, highlights a growing disconnect between the rapid adoption of AI technologies and the economic value organisations are actually able to capture.According to the study, many companies are prioritising AI implementation without adequately evaluating whether the technology is delivering sufficient returns on investment.McKinsey estimated that a 30 per cent increase in the effective cost of AI deployment could erase as much as $850 billion in annual economic value. Under such a scenario, the technology's projected global impact would decline from $2.52 trillion to $1.67 trillion per year.In the United States, the report found that annual economic value generated by AI could fall from $960 billion to $640 billion if costs rise by a similar margin. McKinsey noted that these figures represent a modelled scenario rather than a prediction of future outcomes. The findings come at a time when businesses are spending heavily on AI infrastructure, software platforms and automation technologies. The report estimated that global investments in AI infrastructure could reach approximately $7 trillion by 2030, requiring annual profit pools of around $760 billion to justify those expenditures.Among industries, financial services emerged as the sector with the highest potential gains from AI adoption, with estimated annual economic benefits of $530 billion. The education sector ranked second, with potential gains of $410 billion, followed by technology, media and telecommunications at $360 billion. Healthcare could generate an estimated $310 billion in annual value through AI-enabled applications. The report also challenged the perception that AI's primary role is to replace lower-wage workers. Instead, it suggested that some of the most attractive economic opportunities lie in supporting highly skilled professionals in fields such as law, healthcare, management and computer-related occupations, where the technology can enhance productivity and decision-making.

The report, titled The AI Value Curve: The Economics of Applying AI to Existing Work, highlights a growing disconnect between the rapid adoption of AI technologies and the economic value organisations are actually able to capture.

New Delhi: Indian rice companies are looking to expand their presence in overseas markets, including the United Kingdom and Europe, as exporters see opportunities for growth in international trade. Speaking to ANI on the sidelines of the Bharat International Rice Conference (BIRC) 2026 in New Delhi, industry representatives highlighted plans to enter new markets, expand their export networks and strengthen India's position in the global rice trade. Shashi Shrivastava, Business Head, Hari Bhog Agra Food (HBAF) LLP, said the company is looking to expand into European markets after establishing its presence in the Middle East. "We cover the Saudi market, Middle East, Iran, Iraq. Now we are expanding to UK, Europe market. This is our goal," he told ANI. He said the company has been able to establish its presence in domestic and overseas markets by focusing on product quality, competitive pricing and customer requirements. Expressing optimism about the industry's growth prospects, Ashish Nainani, Director, International Sales, Goenka Group of Industries, said India remains a major hub for rice exports, with overseas demand creating opportunities for exporters. "The progress will be quite good and as you know that India is the major hub for rice and there are many Indians settled abroad who like to have rice. So there is a huge scope and growth in this sector," he said. Nainani said the group exports non-basmati rice to markets including Europe, the United States, Gulf countries, Singapore and Australia. Meanwhile, Virender Kumar, Managing Director, Delhi Pasand Agro (P) Ltd, said the company is now exploring opportunities to expand beyond its established domestic business. "Our domestic relations are very good. But now we want to get out a little bit," he said, highlighting the company's plans to explore exports. He added that the company was meeting international buyers, including those from Dubai and Jeddah, at the exhibition. The comments reflect growing interest among Indian rice businesses in diversifying their export destinations and using industry platforms to establish new international trade relationships. The Bharat International Rice Conference 2026 is being held from October 23 to 25 in New Delhi, bringing together Indian exporters, international buyers and other stakeholders in the global rice trade.

New Delhi: The Non-Resident Indians and the Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) who want to park their foreign currency savings in India have the provision of Foreign Currency Non-Resident Bank or FCNR(B). Moreover, they may choose to add a family member who is an Indian resident as a joint account holder.Adding a family member who is an Indian would help in managing the account more efficiently.A person is allowed to open a joint FCNR(B) account with an Indian relative, however conditions may apply. Therefore, before opening such an account one should go through the details regarding with whom it can be operated and which mode of operation is applicable.Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and People of Indian Origin (PIOs) can open a joint FCNR(B) account with a resident relative on a 'Former or Survivor' basis only, which means the secondary account holder is allowed to use and manage the account only after the death of the former member. It is important to note that the NRI/PIO/OCI must be the primary holder of the joint account.Only one resident Indian can be the joint account holder. If the account is operated with NRIs, a maximum of four members are allowed to be joint holders. In that case, the mode of operation would be 'either or survivor'. This mode allows all the parties to manage the account independently. The State Bank of India (SBI) website states, "Funds deposited in the account can be by way of fresh remittance from overseas or transfer from other NRE / FCNR (B) account or NRO account (subject to limit)."The following individuals are eligible as relatives to hold the FCNR(B) account jointly:-- Members of a Hindu Undivided Family -- Husband and wife -- The relation between the two should be either as follows:a) Father (including step-father) b) Mother (including step-mother) c) Son (including step-son) d) Son's wife e) Daughter f) Daughter's husband g) Brother (including step-brother) h) Sister (including step-sister)The account holders are allowed to fund the deposits in two ways: through foreign currency remittance from overseas and through another FCNR(B) or Non-Resident (External) account.A Non-Resident (External) account converts the foreign currency into Indian currency based on the existing exchange rates to park the savings in India, whereas an FCNR(B) maintains the deposit in the foreign currency. An FCNR(B) deposit comes with certain benefits, including tax exemption and repatriation. The total amount deposited in the FCNR(B) account, including the principal and the interest, is exempt from Income Tax in India. Moreover, the total amount in the fund can be transferred outside India fully and freely.

A person is allowed to open a joint FCNR(B) account with an Indian relative, however conditions may apply. Therefore, before opening such an account one should go through the details regarding with whom it can be operated and which mode of operation is applicable.

New Delhi: Amid speculation of strike by LPG distributors over their demands, including a commission hike, the All India HP Gas Distributors Association (AIHPGDA), Federation of LPG Distributors of India (FLDI), and All India LPG Distributors Federation (AILDF) engaged in a dialogue with the three Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs).During a bipartite meeting on October 21, 2026, the directors and senior officials of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) agreed to jointly recommend an interim increase in the commission, as per a statement by AIHPGDA.According to the statement posted by AIHPGDA on X, the revised proposals have already been sent to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, and approval is awaited. The core issues discussed during the meeting included the financial distress faced by LPG distributors, operational difficulties, and the forced upliftment of Non-Domestic Non-Exempted (NDNE) LPG, Free Trade LPG, and Non-Fuel Products despite lower demand.Operational costs are rising at the same time as commercial pressure is increasing as a result of reduced refill sales, restrictions on new LPG connections, and unsold commercial stock affecting working capital. The distributors' bodies also raised concerns regarding changes to indents without the distributor's consent. The requests placed by these distributors with the OMCs to obtain LPG cylinders for supply to customers must not be altered without their approval. For this, distributors have demanded recorded consent for commercial indents.Regarding the restriction on new connections, the managements stated that the matter had been reviewed at the highest level and that work was underway. The operational hurdles have emerged as a result of geopolitical tensions, leading to financial distress for distributors.Distributors also sought written standard operating procedures (SOPs), digital audit trails, and independent grievance redressal mechanisms to improve transparency and accountability. The meeting also discussed LPG-PNG safeguards, commercial business practices, reconciliation of OMC records with invoices and GSTR-1, supply-chain accountability, and consumer safety.“OMC Management appreciated the dedication of distributors and staff during the recent crisis, while indicating that complete operational normalisation would take time,” it added. The association further stated that the distributors had requested meeting minutes and an action matrix specifying responsibilities, deadlines, and matters requiring ministry intervention.“AILDF, FLDI and AIHPGDA will continue their work and follow up firmly and constructively. Our unity remains essential for securing a financially viable, respected and operationally secure distributor network,” it said.Separately, the Federation of LPG Distributors of India (FLDI), in an X post, said that it was “Grateful to the Petroleum Secretary for facilitating the constructive 21 October meeting with OMC Directors (Marketing), bringing LPG trade concerns directly before senior leadership.”(With inputs from ANI)

New Delhi: Money transfer has come a long way from cash to internet-based transactions as a result of the increasingly digital economy. People now have multiple channels to make payments and receive money, ranging from single-digit payments to large transactions.People may choose Unified Payments Interface (UPI), National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT), Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS), Immediate Payment Service (IMPS), and other channels to make routine or business transactions. With new modes being introduced, new confusion may arise regarding the nature of these transactions and their tax implications.Though such transactions may not necessarily be taxable, complications may, however, arise if the receiver is unable to explain the source of the money. This may happen when the transfers into a person's account in a year exceed the person's declared total income. Therefore, even if the transactions are legitimate, the Income Tax Department may scrutinise them, even if the money is received as gifts from relatives, business receipts, or transactions made on others' behalf. The person has to be prepared to explain the source and reason for the money transferred into the account.UPI is these days the most opted-for mode of digital transaction, and it does not have any transaction limit as per the Income Tax Act, which makes the nature and source of the transfer the reason for scrutiny. The Statement of Financial Transactions (SFT) framework makes cash deposits of Rs 50 lakh and more in current accounts and Rs 10 lakh and more in savings accounts reportable. These thresholds do not apply to UPI, NEFT, RTGS, or IMPS transactions. However, the frequency or amount transferred during digital transactions may come under the radar if the Income Tax Department detects unusual activity, even if no threshold exists. It implies that even a small transaction can attract questions if the Income Tax Department suspects an illegitimate transaction. Thus, a small but suspicious deposit might have tax consequences just as a large-value transaction might.Sometimes, confusion arises when a person uses the same account for personal and business purposes. It may happen that, despite a person's earnings being within the tax-exemption limit, they may receive a tax notice because the total amount of annual deposits made in the account crosses the threshold.Similarly, a person who receives money on behalf of a family member or a friend may face scrutiny, even if the beneficiary is someone else. Transferring the received amount to someone else does not establish that the credit is legitimate or exempt from tax. This happens because repeated deposits and transfers may resemble the activities of a money mule account. Therefore, it becomes necessary to keep records of these transactions ready to provide an adequate explanation regarding the nature of the transfer.

People may choose Unified Payments Interface (UPI), National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT), Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS), Immediate Payment Service (IMPS), and other channels to make routine or business transactions.

New Delhi: As long as Brent crude remains above $100 a barrel, there will be pressures on the economy and the foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) are likely to sell the dip, analysts said on Sunday. The total FPI selling in October stands at Rs 53,337 crore so far, and the net FPI investment through the IPO market during this period stands at Rs 5,281 crore.“The total FPI selling through the exchanges for this year stood at Rs 3,69,164 crore,” said Dr VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Investments Ltd.On the flows front, FIIs remained net sellers for the 10th straight week. For the week ended October 23, FIIs significantly reduced their selling and even turned buyers on two days. The moderation in US bond yields with the 10-year yield declining from 5.36 per cent to around 5 per cent, appreciation in the rupee to 94.94 to the dollar and the low valuations, particularly of the large-caps, contributed to the moderation in FII selling.Going ahead, the steady moderation in FII selling offers some comfort, though elevated crude and sharp broader-market weakness keep the downside risk alive.A significant market trend during the week was the sharp correction in the mid-and small-caps.The Nifty Mid-cap 100 plunged 5.6 per cent and the Nifty Small-cap 100 crashed 7.3 per cent during the week while the Nifty 50 was relatively resilient with a cut of only 2.35 per cent.Forced liquidation in the margin-funded long positions in the broader market is rumoured to have triggered the crash in the broader market, said analysts. The resilience of the large-caps is mainly due to the accumulation of the fairly valued large-caps by the DIIs which are flush with funds. The high crude prices is acting as a strong headwind for the economy and market, said analysts.

The total FPI selling in October stands at Rs 53,337 crore so far, and the net FPI investment through the IPO market during this period stands at Rs 5,281 crore.

New Delhi: The Indian Railways has decided to extend the optional travel insurance facility to passengers who book their tickets at railway counters through offline mode. The decision came after the Supreme Court's order, dated October 6, directing the Railway Board to cover offline or counter tickets under the Optional Travel Insurance Scheme (OTIS).The facility was, until now, available to passengers who made ticket reservations online. The terms and conditions for OTIS issued by the IRCTC, which have so far governed passengers with e-tickets, would now also be applicable to passengers buying tickets from the counters. As per the order issued by the Railway Board, all zonal railways have been instructed to make the necessary arrangements to ensure the implementation of the facility by October 27. The railway zones have to further inform the staff about the implementation of the insurance scheme. The insurance coverage includes only Indian nationals, as per the IRCTC guidelines, and is applicable to confirmed, partly confirmed, and Reservation against Cancellation (RAC) tickets at the time of booking. The premium of 45 paise, which is applicable to e-tickets, is also applicable to offline tickets for those opting for the insurance scheme, with payment mandatorily made digitally. When the passenger makes the ticket payment, the premium would be added to the fare, and the railway staff has to ensure that the passenger's accurate mobile number is recorded along with other details in accordance with the reservation procedure. This would ensure that all the required information is transmitted to the insurance company for the issuance of the scheme. The insurance coverage would range from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. The highest coverage would be provided in cases of death or permanent total disability due to a railway accident or any tragedy. Coverage of Rs 7.5 lakh would be given to those suffering permanent partial disability, while up to Rs 2 lakh would go towards hospitalisation expenses. Moreover, Rs 10,000 would be provided for the transportation of mortal remains following a railway accident or tragic incident.People opting for insurance coverage would be informed of the relevant policy details through their registered mobile numbers. The Railway Board is yet to issue further instructions regarding OTIS to reservation supervisors and counter staff. The Supreme Court took note of people from the lowest strata of society who are still not equipped with the resources to make online reservations and are thus dependent on Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters for tickets. Therefore, despite most ticket reservations being made online, the top court has ordered the extension of the scheme to cover passengers who still rely on offline methods.

The facility was, until now, available to passengers who made ticket reservations online. The terms and conditions for OTIS issued by the IRCTC, which have so far governed passengers with e-tickets, would now also be applicable to passengers buying tickets from the counters.

New Delhi: Gold edged slightly higher on Saturday while currently standing at Rs 14,258 per gram for 24-carat purity on October 25, 2026. Rates for 22K and 18K gold are Rs 13,070 per gram and Rs 10,694 per gram, respectively.Yellow metal on October 24 went up by Rs 10 for 24K purity, Rs 10 for 22K purity, and Rs 08 for 18K purity compared with October 23, 2026.Gold still remains under pressure due to elevated oil prices. Brent crude future for December on Friday hovered at a six-month high, settling up 3.1 per cent at $116.72 a barrel due to continued geopolitical tensions resulting from the US-Iran conflict and the recent escalation between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia. The surge came even after US President Donald Trump's decision to waive sanctions and tariffs on Russia, strengthening hopes of better diesel supply to the market. Yet, energy prices remain elevated, further prompting expectations of rate hikes in the coming sessions. Also, the US Consumer Price Index (CPI) data released on Wednesday, October 14, once again brought expectations of a Federal Reserve rate hike during the monetary policy meeting scheduled for October 27–28 on the table. The cost of gasoline surged, leading to a higher-than-expected spike in consumer prices in September. As per reports, Treasury yields rose sharply as the Consumer Price Index increased to 3.7% in September, up from 3.4% in August.Previous reports suggested lower chances of a rate hike during the October meeting after Federal Reserve policymakers indicated that “There is no need for urgency” following softer US data.Meanwhile, the ongoing conflicts involving the Middle East have continued to keep inflation fears high since the end of February.US inflation data and interest rates set by the Federal Reserve continue to influence the yellow metal's trajectory. When the dollar is stronger and interest rates are high, the yellow metal comes under pressure due to the increased opportunity cost of holding it.Gold continues to remain under pressure, as its trajectory is likely to be influenced by geopolitical concerns and energy prices, with the Federal Reserve's rate decisions further affecting its price. On a different note, festive buying across India is also playing a role in determining the cost of the yellow metal.Check prices across India:Delhi24K: Rs 14,273/g22K: Rs 13,085/g18K: Rs 10,709/gMumbai24K: Rs 14,258/g22K: Rs 13,070/g18K: Rs 10,694/gKolkata24K: Rs 14,258/g22K: Rs 13,070/g18K: Rs 10,694/g Ahmedabad24K: Rs 14,263/g22K: Rs 13,075/g18K: Rs 10,699/g Chennai24K: Rs 14,258/g22K: Rs 13,070/g18K: Rs 10,695/g Hyderabad24K: Rs 14,258/g22K: Rs 13,070/g18K: Rs 10,694/g Lucknow24K: Rs 14,273/g22K: Rs 13,085/g18K: Rs 10,709/gPatna24K: Rs 14,263/g22K: Rs 13,075/g18K: Rs 10,699/gBangalore24K: Rs 14,258/g22K: Rs 13,070/g18K: Rs 10,694/g Bhopal24K: Rs 14,263/g22K: Rs 13,075/g18K: Rs 10,699/gPune24K: Rs 14,258/g22K: Rs 13,070/g18K: Rs 10,694/g Thiruvananthapuram24K: Rs 14,258/g22K: Rs 13,070/g18K: Rs 10,694/g Amritsar24K: Rs 14,273/g22K: Rs 13,085/g18K: Rs 10,709/gChandigarh24K: Rs 14,273/g22K: Rs 13,085/g18K: Rs 10,709/g

Mumbai: The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is working on a graded compliance framework for stockbrokers, a regulatory sandbox for artificial intelligence (AI) applications and a market-making mechanism for corporate bonds, Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey said on Saturday.Addressing the 16th ANMI International Capital Market Convention here, Pandey said the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) was examining a compliance regime that would vary according to a broker's scale, client exposure and reliance on technology."We are fixing this to improve capital efficiency and lower the compliance burden," he said. The regulator is also developing a market-making framework to boost secondary market trading in corporate bonds.Under the next phase of Demat 2.0, tokenised corporate bonds will be allowed to trade in the secondary market, a move that will improve liquidity, reduce settlement risks and speed up access to funds, according to Pandey. The market watchdog is further exploring an AI sandbox that would allow new tools to be tested in a controlled environment while giving regulators an opportunity to build safeguards around their use.According to Pandey, the regulator was finalising guidelines on the responsible use of AI based on a tiered framework that would include accountability standards, data controls, kill switches and human oversight, in line with recommendations from the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).Pandey said SEBI would extend the automated give-up and take-up facility in the cash segment to custodial clients such as portfolio management services (PMS) and alternative investment funds (AIFs), reducing the need to block funds while awaiting custodian confirmation. On investor protection, the SEBI chairman warned that unregistered investment advisers and social media influencers or finfluencers were increasingly shaping retail investment decisions.Notably, about six in ten investors rely on finfluencers for at least some investment decisions. While many such operators promise quick riches and fraudsters often misuse the names of legitimate brokers to deceive investors. To combat such fraud, SEBI has introduced measures including validated UPI handles, the SEBI Check platform and verified labels for trading applications to help investors distinguish authentic entities from fraudulent ones.Pandey added that SEBI would make it easier for overseas investors, including non-resident Indians, to invest in India through digital onboarding, simplified know-your-customer processes and reduced paperwork while maintaining regulatory safeguards.

Addressing the 16th ANMI International Capital Market Convention here, Pandey said the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) was examining a compliance regime that would vary according to a brokers scale, client exposure and reliance on technology.

New Delhi: As global growth is forecast to slow from 3.5 per cent in 2025 to 3.1 per cent in 2026, India’s economic resilience is increasingly evident as it sustains growth despite geopolitical tensions, volatile energy markets, trade uncertainty, and tighter financial conditions, according to a new report.Major global institutions' upward revisions to GDP forecasts reinforce India’s standing as a leading global growth engine, says the report in Tanzania-based The Guardian (IPP Media).“Export diversification, digital transformation, fiscal discipline, and energy security will strengthen competitiveness and sustain long-term, inclusive economic growth,” it noted. The IMF recently raised India’s growth forecast to 7.0 per cent for both 2026 and 2027, making it the fastest-growing major economy and highlighting strong domestic drivers and resilience to external shocks.“A principal source of India’s economic strength is its large and diversified domestic market. Household consumption, business investment, and public expenditure on infrastructure together create a broad base of economic activity. This domestic orientation helps cushion the economy when external demand weakens or international markets become volatile,” said the report.Notably, private consumption drives sectors ranging from automobiles and housing to tourism, healthcare, and finance. Rising incomes, urbanisation, digital access, and improved connectivity expand demand and support business investment and innovation. The rapid adoption of digital platforms has transformed domestic economic participation.“Digital payments, online commerce, digital public infrastructure, and technology-enabled government services have reduced transaction costs and expanded market access. Small businesses can reach customers beyond their immediate geographical areas, while digital financial services facilitate payments, credit assessment, and formalisation,” the report mentioned. Moreover, infrastructure investment in transport, logistics, power, and digital connectivity strengthens India’s resilience by lowering costs, expanding market access, and improving the flow of goods and services.India’s exports are expected to reach $1 trillion, an all-time high in 2026-27, with a target of $2 trillion by 2030. The manufacturing sector also grew by 9.2 per cent in Q1 FY27.India’s economic landscape demonstrates remarkable adaptability, having successfully navigated global volatility through strong domestic fundamentals and proactive policy management, said the report.

Major global institutions upward revisions to GDP forecasts reinforce India’s standing as a leading global growth engine, says the report in Tanzania-based The Guardian (IPP Media).
