The latest order replaces that timeline and pushes the online arrangement to the end of the semester.

In its latest notification issued on Wednesday, Jamia Millia Islamia has extended its online classes till November 24 and has decided to hold all end-semester examinations online. The order comes amid the situation on campus and concern for students' safety.

As per the notice, teaching for the odd semester will end on November 24 while the practical, fieldwork, project viva and minor project examinations will be held online from November 25 to 30.

End-semester theory examinations will run online from December 1 to 24.

The university will then close for winter vacation from December 25 to January 12, 2027. Classes for the even semester begin on January 13.

Classes at Jamia moved online on October 24 as what the university called a precautionary measure, amid student protests on campus.

Two days later, it extended online teaching till November 8 and moved the second mid-term examinations online, saying it would review the position after that date.

The latest order replaces that timeline and pushes the online arrangement to the end of the semester.

The protests began on October 12, when students started an agitation demanding the restoration of the Jamia Millia Islamia Students' Union (JMISU) and a clear timeline for elections.

The union has not existed since 2006, when it was dissolved. Some students have been on a hunger strike over the demand, and the university has reportedly told them to end it.

Students will have to take their theory and practical examinations from home.
