The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is going to set fast-track recruitment for more than 1,000 vacant positions in its Public Health Department amid a rise in dengue and malaria cases across the national capital.
The civic body has directed officials to initiate the recruitment process without further delay to strengthen its mosquito-control and disease-prevention measures.
The decision comes after a review of the department's staffing situation highlighted a shortage of field personnel responsible for monitoring mosquito breeding sites, conducting inspections and carrying out anti-larval operations.
According to reports, the MCD Standing Committee has approved the proposal to fill 1,066 vacant positions. If regular recruitment takes time, officials have also been asked to explore contractual or agreement-based appointments to address the shortage.
