Salman Khan hosted an exclusive Mumbai media screening to unveil the trailer for his upcoming patriotic film Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace ahead of its public release.

Following an exclusive press preview ahead of the Diwali holidays, the trailer for Salman Khan’s upcoming film Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace is set to be released publicly soon. The special screening, held in Mumbai, drew around 250 media personnel who offered glowing initial reactions to the first look of the period drama.

Exclusive trailer premiere

Journalists present at the Mumbai preview highlighted Salman Khan’s powerful screen presence in an army uniform alongside co-star Chitrangda Singh, praising the compelling dynamic between the leads. Early feedback also commended the trailer's impact-driven background score and the subtle preview of the film’s soundtrack.

December 4 release date confirmed

The trailer preview event also served as the platform to announce the film's revised theatrical release date of December 4, following clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The announcement came after last-minute scheduling adjustments. The production team had initially finalized a November 20 release, requiring venue banners and promotional materials displaying the earlier date to be covered shortly before the press event commenced.

Delays, title changes, and reshoots

Originally titled Battle of Galwan and planned for an April release, the project underwent significant changes following censor board reviews regarding its military context. The makers subsequently reshot select sequences and retitled the film to Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, shifting the promotional focus toward a broader human and family narrative. Authors Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, whose book India’s Most Fearless was initially associated with the adaptation, also ended their formal association as the script evolved.

Cast and other details

Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film stars Salman Khan as Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, the commanding officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment who was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra. The ensemble cast includes Chitrangda Singh, Mukesh Rishi, Ankur Bhatia, Zeyn Shaw, and Abhilash Chaudhary, with Vijay Raaz serving as the narrator.
