Harmanpreet Kaur etched her name further into Indian women’s cricket history by scoring her eighth ODI century and moving past Mithali Raj on the all-time list for India Women.

Veteran Indian batter Harmanpreet Kaur etched her name into the history books by scoring her 8th Women's One-Day International (WODI) hundred, officially surpassing legendary former captain Mithali Raj to claim the second spot for the most ODI centuries by an Indian woman.

Harmanpreet's 126 off 121 balls against Zimbabwe in the second women's ODI in Vadodara powered a recovery from an early collapse and helped India post 328/6 before winning by 121 runs to seal the series 2-0.

The Milestone Knock In Vadodara

Harmanpreet reached the milestone in emphatic fashion during the second ODI against Zimbabwe in Vadodara. Walking in when India needed a steadying hand following early wickets, the former India captain anchored the innings before accelerating smoothly, bringing up her century off just 101 deliveries.

Paired with a companion century from all-rounder Deepti Sharma, Harmanpreet’s knock rescued the innings and powered India to a commanding total. This ton marked her first three-figure score in the 50-over format since relinquishing the full-time captaincy duties.

Moving Past Mithali Raj

For years, Mithali Raj’s tally of seven ODI centuries stood as the standard for Indian women’s cricket.

While Mithali accumulated 7,805 runs across 232 matches, her century count has now been eclipsed by Harmanpreet, whose aggressive middle-order play has converted several match-defining situations into three-figure milestones.

Harmanpreet now sits solely behind star opener Smriti Mandhana, who leads the all-time chart for India with 14 ODI centuries.

Most ODI Centuries for India Women (All-Time List)

Player                            Matches       ODI Centuries      Career Span

Smriti Mandhana            122                14                       2013-2026

Harmanpreet Kaur         166                 8                        2009-2026

Mithali Raj                      232                 7                       1999-2022

Pratika Rawal                29                   3                        2024-2026

Jemimah Rodrigues      62                   3                        2018-2026

Punam Raut                  73                   3                       2009-2021

Batting predominantly at numbers 4 and 5, reaching eight tons highlights Harmanpreet's conversion rate and ability to build long innings despite entering outside the top order.

Her milestone also underlines the depth and progression in Indian women’s cricket. While Mandhana’s explosive opening batting sets the benchmark for centuries, veterans like Harmanpreet and consistent contributors such as Deepti, Jemimah, and the rising Pratika Rawal ensure the middle order can rebuild and dominate.
