Auqib Nabi has been added to India’s squad for the first three ODIs against New Zealand after Prasidh Krishna was ruled out with a hamstring injury. The Jammu and Kashmir pacer earned the call-up following impressive performances in domestic cricket and India A’s unofficial Test against New Zealand A.

Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Auqib Nabi has been added to India's squad for the first three ODIs against New Zealand, giving him an opportunity to feature throughout the five-match series. Nabi was initially selected for the final two matches but has now been included in the squad for the opening three games as well.

The decision was announced by the selection committee on Saturday after pacer Prasidh Krishna was ruled out of the tour. Krishna requires additional time to recover from a hamstring injury and rebuild his workload before returning to competitive cricket.

The five-match ODI series between India and New Zealand begins on November 4, with Shubman Gill leading the side in the first three matches.

Auqib Nabi earns extended opportunity after impressive India A performance

Nabi's recent performances in New Zealand have strengthened his case for an extended opportunity in the Indian team. The 29-year-old picked up six wickets in the opening unofficial Test between India A and New Zealand A at Lincoln last week.

The right-arm pacer was initially named in India's A squad for all three unofficial Tests but was subsequently withdrawn from the squads for the second and third matches.

Before travelling to New Zealand, Nabi also represented Jammu and Kashmir in the Irani Cup against Rest of India, claiming four wickets in the contest.

His inclusion in the ODI squad comes as another opportunity to make an impression at the international level after a challenging start to his career in the format.

Auqib Nabi's ODI record and domestic success

Nabi made his ODI debut against the West Indies in Guwahati on September 30. However, the pacer endured a difficult outing, conceding 84 runs in 8.5 overs.

He was subsequently left out of India's playing XI for the third and final ODI in Mullanpur, with Mohammed Siraj replacing him.

Despite the difficult international debut, Nabi has built a strong reputation in domestic cricket. He played a key role in Jammu and Kashmir's maiden Ranji Trophy title triumph in the 2025-26 season, finishing the campaign with 60 wickets.

The latest selection gives the fast bowler another opportunity to make his mark as India prepare for the upcoming series against New Zealand.
