A man who used to work as a security guard died after his wife allegedly stabbed him in the chest with a kitchen knife during a quarrel at their home in Kothapet, on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Police have registered a murder case and taken the woman into custody.
The incident took place on Saturday morning in Satyanagar Colony, Kothapet, under the Chaitanyapuri police station limits.
The victim has been identified as Prabhakar. His wife is named Rajitha.
Prabhakar had stopped going to work as a security guard because of poor health and had been staying at home. On Saturday morning the couple got into an argument over a family matter.
Police say the exchange grew heated and Rajitha, in a fit of anger, picked up a knife used for cutting vegetables and stabbed her husband hard in the chest.
Their daughters, who were at home, saw him bleeding heavily and called for a 108 ambulance. He was taken to a private hospital in Kothapet, but doctors said he was already dead when he arrived.
Case registered
Prabhakar's younger brother, Kotem Vijaya Bhaskar, filed a complaint with the Chaitanyapuri police. Based on it, a murder case was registered and the wife was taken into custody.
The body was sent to Osmania General Hospital for a postmortem examination.
ACP Ravinder Reddy spoke to reporters about the case on Sunday.
Police said the investigation is continuing, and further details are expected once the postmortem report comes in and the woman is questioned.
