Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh produced a standout spell of 4/70 in 10 overs as India bowled out New Zealand for 185 in the first ODI of the series at Eden Park, Auckland.
Indian left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh etched his name into the record books during the first One-Day International against New Zealand at Eden Park, Auckland on Wednesday, producing one of the finest bowling displays by an Indian fast bowler on Kiwi soil.
Returning to the 50-over setup with fiery rhythm, Arshdeep dismantled the Black Caps' batting order to register figures of 4 for 70 in his 10 overs. In doing so, he became only the third Indian specialist pacer to claim a four-wicket haul in ODIs in New Zealand, placing himself in rare company alongside pace icons
Javagal Srinath and Mohammed Shami.

Masterclass At Eden Park
Opening the attack after India won the toss and opted to field, Arshdeep immediately found lateral movement under breezy Auckland skies. He struck in the early powerplay by dismissing opener Will Young before returning to remove top-order batsman Henry Nicholls, putting the hosts on the back foot early.
As the middle overs unfolded, Arshdeep showcased his trademark control and seam positioning. He returned to break a threatening partnership by removing the dangerous Glenn Phillips and later cleaned up all-rounder Kyle Jamieson to bag his four-fer.
While a late counter-attack by Blair Tickner slightly inflated his final economy, Arshdeep’s timely strikes ensured New Zealand never ran away with momentum.
Best Bowling Figures By Indian Pacers In ODIs In New Zealand
Before Arshdeep's heroics, no Indian fast bowler had taken four or more wickets in an ODI in New Zealand in over a decade. Former speedster Javagal Srinath features twice at the top of the chart, with Mohammed Shami holding the second spot since 2014.
Bowler Figures (Overs) Venue Year
Javagal Srinath 4/23 (10.0) Auckland 2003

Mohammed Shami 4/55 (9.0) Napier 2014
Arshdeep Singh 4/70 (10.0) Auckland 2026
While Arshdeep has long established himself as India’s premier strike weapon in T20 Internationals, his performance at Eden Park underlines his growing versatility and menace in the longer white-ball format.
By joining Srinath and Shami in this exclusive club, Arshdeep has firmly staked his claim as an indispensable asset for India across conditions worldwide.
